Put one person in charge of the project
- This person should be the project leader
- The project leader should always know what is going on
- They should always be accessible throughout the job
Have one team per project
- Keep the team small but not overwhelmed
- One team allows focus
Make a schedule
- Start and finish a job as quickly as possible
- Work at a good planned pace
- Set daily goals to achieve
- Make sure you have enough polishers
- Make sure everyone understands the schedule
- Don’t overwork your polishers. Have a back up plan in case someone calls in sick.
Have all supplies on hand before you start
- Prep materials such as tarps, towels and tape to protect surrounding area
- Everclear sanding supplies (discs, backup pads, liquid abrasive, etc)
- Tools (sanders, air compressors, drills)
- Ladders
- Lights
- Required power sources for tools
- Diving equipment
Follow all instructions in the Everclear kit
Make sure the entire polishing team is properly trained in the refurbishing methods they will be using. Take the time to have everyone read the instructions.
Do not take short cuts.
If sanding grits are skipped or sanding times are reduced the damage may not be seen until the last step. It is not worth having to start over. Do it right the first time.
Record all grits and times in a place the team can find.
Make sure there is an accurate account of what has been done and for how long. Covering the same grit twice, moving back a grit or the worst, skipping a grit are all tremendous time set backs. Records are kept to help prevent these problems from happening. |
