Polishing Process

Underwater polishing:
Underwater refurbishing is done by trained divers with specially designed pneumatic equipment. The divers divide the surface to be polished into square feet and work their way through about 10 different grits of sand paper. Each grit, slightly less abrasive then its predecessor, is used for about an average of 10 minutes per square foot. This method takes a long time but provides spectacular results. In most cases the acrylic will look brand new. Everclear has used this method on both fresh water and saltwater aquariums with no ill affect to the aquarium’s inhabitants.

Wet / Dry Polishing:
Wet / Dry Refurbishing also requires various grits of sand paper. Once the main scratches are removed with the sand paper the polishers switch to a liquid abrasive.

Each grit of paper is used for approximately 10 minutes per square foot. The liquid abrasive is normally used for about 15 minutes per square foot.
